A breviary reproduction of the Child Jesus of Ittenbach or "Messine" because it had been brought to the Carmel in Paris on the Avenue de Messines, by Sister Marie of the Trinity. This was one of the two pictures that Saint Therese was holding when she was photographed in June of 1897. https://www.catholictradition.org

DIVINE CHILD JESUS, I TRUST IN YOU

The Divine Child Jesus said:
"Let me control your personal matters, and they will improve. Surrender to me in absolute confidence and place your future in my hands. If you totally surrender to me, all your personal matters will be settled in peace, according to my plans. Dont ruin my plans trying to impose your ideas; let me be your God and act freely in your life! Just tell me frequently: DIVINE CHILD JESUS, I TRUST IN YOU!"

"What hurts you the most is trying to reason everything according to your thoughts, and to try to solve your problems in your own way. When you say to me: 'DIVINE CHILD JESUS, I TRUST IN YOU', dont be like the impatient man who tells his doctor: Cure me! but then suggests the best way to do so."

"Let me heal you in my divine arms; have no fear! I love you, but I need my hands to be free so that I can show my blessings."

"Dont tie my hands with your absurd worries! Satan wants you to be frustrated, to feel sad, to lose your peace."

"If you see things becoming worse or more complicated, even when you are praying, keep on trusting me, and continue saying every hour: DIVINE CHILD JESUS, I TRUST IN YOU."

"Trust in me, rest in me, surrender to me! I perform miracles in proportion to your abandonment to me, and according to your faith in me! Thus, dont worry, give me all your preoccupations and sleep in peace, and always tell me: DIVINE CHILD JESUS, I TRUST IN YOU." and you will see great miracles. This I promise you with all my love!"

Prayer during Difficult Times

Dear Divine Child Jesus:
With my problems:
   Help me!
From the enemies of my soul:
   Save me!
In my errors:
   Enlighten me!
In my doubts and thoughts:
   Comfort me!
In my solitude:
   Accompany me!
In my illnesses:
   Strengthen me!
When I am scorned:
   Encourage me!
In temptations:
   Shield me!
In hours of difficulty
   Console me!
With Your Fatherly Heart:
   Love me!
With Your infinite power:
   Protect me!
And in your arms:
   Carry me! Amen

A minute with the Child Jesus

Bless me Child Jesus!
Pray for me without stopping.
Keep me away from sin, now and forever.
If I stumble, extend your hand to me.
If I fall a hundred times,
a hundred times pick me up.
If I forget about You,
dont forget about me.

If you abandon me Child Jesus,
what will happen to me?
In the dangers of the world: accompany me.
I want to live and die under your cloak.
I want my life to make you smile.
Look at me with compassion;
do not leave me O Jesus.
And at the end, come out to receive me
and carry me with you.
Your blessing accompanies me now and forever.
Amen! Hallelujah!

And now, listen to your Saviour:
"I follow your struggles and I want to help you;
with me, do not despair.
Where I am, there is nothing to fear;
trust in me and you will win.

Those who love me assure their salvation.
Before me, sin and hell flee.
Victory belongs to those who believe."

Divine Child Jesus, I trust in You.

O Jesus, You said:

"If you want to please me, trust in me.
If you want to please me more, trust in me more.
If you want to please me immensely, trust in me immensely.
I want you to increase your trust in me."
I ask You to increase my trust.
I want to trust in You immensely.
In You Lord, I hope, and will not give up
loving You eternally.
Divine Child Jesus:
free us of all evil. Amen

Photo taken by Blessed Charles de Foucauld (1858-1916) of the Eucharistic Jesus while it was exposed on the altar. When the film was developed the above picture of the Child Jesus appeared. The picture portrays the innocent Child Jesus looking up to His loving Holy Father and praying on our behalf. The surrounding shows the Child Jesus in a poor carpenters work shop. The real state of Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament at every church shows a mighty King trapped in the Sacred Host all for His love for us. https://www.family-prayer.org

History of the Devotion to the Divine Child Jesus

According to tradition, the devotion to the Divine Child Jesus began on Mount Carmel, in Israel, a beautiful mountain near Nazareth. The Divine Child, accompanied by his parents, Joseph and Mary and his grandparents, Saint Joachim and Saint Ann, frequently went there to walk and pray. The pious who met there to pray showed great esteem and affection to the Child. And after the Divine Redeemer ascended to Heaven, the religious inhabitants of Mount Carmel followed, remembering with great affection and devotion the Child Jesus. Later, when the Carmelites spread out in Europe, they carried the devotion to the Divine Child everywhere.

In 1200, Saint Anthony of Padua, and in 1500 Saint Cajetan had great devotion to the Child Jesus, and because of that, there is a painting of each saint carrying the divine child in his arms. But those who most popularized the devotion to the Divine Child Jesus were Saint Theresa of the Child Jesus and Saint John of the Cross.

From Saint Theresa, we are told that she was climbing some steps toward a corridor where she saw the Child Jesus who greeted her kindly. Since then, the saint always carried with her in her travels a statue of the Divine Child, and in all the homes of her order, ordered that a beautiful picture of the Child Jesus be placed and honoured. She almost always left one as a present as she left.

The Carmelite Fathers and Sisters, following the example of their founding saints, Saint Theresa and Saint John of the Cross, have made the point of spreading this devotion wherever they went. In 1636, Our Lord made to Venerable Marguerite of the Most Holy Sacrament a promise that became very famous: "Everything that you want to ask for, ask for it through the merits of my childhood, and your prayer will be heard."

Prayer to obtain Serenity

Divine Child Jesus,
You are the King of Peace;
help me accept without bitterness
the things I cannot change.

You are the fortitude of the Christian;
give me the courage to transform
what I must improve in myself.

You are eternal wisdom;
teach me in all moments
how I must act to please God more
and be better to others.

I implore you through the merits
of your childhood, Child Jesus,
Who lives and reigns forever
and ever.  Amen.

OUR FATHER

Our Father, Who Art In Heaven
Hallowed Be Thy Name.
Thy Kingdom come,
Thy Will be done
On earth as it is in Heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread
And forgive us our trespasses
As we forgive those who trespass against us.
Liberate us from all temptation[*]
And deliver us from all evil. Amen

[*] Liberate us is in keeping with the original Latin text.
       God usually does not "lead us" to temptation
       (unless we are tested),
       but gives us the grace to overcome and/or resist it

HAIL MARY

Hail Mary, full of grace
The Lord is with thee.
Blessed art though among women,
And blessed is the fruit
Of thy womb, Jesus.

Holy Mary, Mary of God
Pray for us sinners
Now, and in the hour
Of our death. Amen

APOSTLE'S CREED

I believe in God, the Father Almighty Creator of Heaven and earth;
And in Jesus Christ, His Only Son, our Lord;
Who was conceived by the
[work and grace of the] Holy Ghost,[*]
Born of the Virgin Mary,
Suffered under Pontius Pilate,
Was crucified, died and was buried.
He descended into the Dead.[**]
On the third day, He rose again;
He ascended into Heaven,
And sits at the right hand of God,
the Father Almighty.
From thence he shall come to judge
the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Ghost,[*]
The Holy Catholic Church,
The communion of saints,
The forgiveness of sins.
The resurrection of the body,
And life everlasting. Amen

DE PROFUNDIS

Out of the depths I have cried to Thee, O Lord:
Lord, hear my voice.
Let Thine ears be attentive
to the voice of my supplication.

If thou, O Lord, wilt mark iniquities:
Lord, who shall abide it.
For with Thee there is merciful forgiveness:
and because of Thy law,
I have waited for Thee, O Lord.

My soul hath waited on His word:
my soul hath hoped in the Lord.
From the morning-watch even until night,
let Israel hope in the Lord.

For with the Lord there is mercy:
and with Him plenteous redemption.
And He shall redeem Israel
from all her iniquities.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son,
and to the Holy Ghost[*],
as it was in the beginning, is now,
and ever shall be, world without end.
Amen
